ABOUT ME

I’m Sophie Paine, a Biodynamic Massage Therapist and Advanced Trainee Biodynamic Psychotherapist with the London School of Biodynamic Psychotherapy (LSBP).
I came to this work after many years as a massage therapist. It felt like a natural next step — a deepening of what I was already doing, alongside my own personal journey through Biodynamic Psychotherapy. When the time felt right, I dived in.
What I love about this approach is that it’s as much about moving towards life and vitality as it is about working through painful feelings from the past — and that the two happen together, naturally. I’d long felt frustrated by how fragmented conventional healthcare can be. By contrast, working at Penny Brohn Cancer Care in the 1990s showed me the power of a holistic, integrated approach. I learned there that, with the right support, we’re our own best healers — and that health never fully leaves us, even alongside illness.
Before training, I worked as a bodyworker, holistic massage therapist and reflexologist, running practices in Bristol and Stroud for many years. Along the way I’ve developed particular interests in supporting women through pregnancy and early motherhood, and in supporting neurodivergent clients.
I started my Biodynamic Psychotherapy training with LSBP in 2016, and now have seven years’ experience in practice. I’m close to gaining accreditation with the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy).
I welcome diversity in all its forms — sexual and gender orientation, ethnicity, culture, age, neurodiversity, disability and religion.
I live and work in Stroud, a place I love for its vibrancy and beautiful surrounding countryside. Outside of work I enjoy walks with my whippet Sam and Stroud’s music and arts scene. I live with my partner and our two children.
