ABOUT ME
I’m Sophie Paine, Biodynamic Massage Therapist and Advanced Trainee Biodynamic Psychotherapist member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and LSBP (London School of Biodynamic Psychotherapy).
I came to this approach through my own journey with Biodynamic Psychotherapy and a longing for a sense of aliveness and vitality. I’d had a long-standing frustration with the non-integrated approach of conventional healthcare. In contrast I had developed a deep respect for the integrated, holistic approach I experienced whilst working at Penny Brohn Cancer Care back in the 1990’s. Here I discovered that with the right support and encouragement we are our own best healers. ‘Health’ is never something that leaves us even with the limitations of illness.
What resonates strongly with me about Gerda Boyesen’s Biodynamic perspective is that vitality or life-force is able to grow within nurturing relationships. This is emphasized not only in the contact but also in the space afforded in the relationship. Through my Psychotherapy training I found that the latest Neuroscience supports this understanding.
My background previous to the training was as a Bodyworker, Holistic Massage Therapist and Reflexologist. I ran practices for many years in Bristol and Stroud. Over the years I have developed special areas of interest in Pregnancy and Childbirth, Reproductive issues and Neurodiversities including Autism.
Having completed my core 4 year Biodynamic Psychotherapy training at LSBP in 2019 I am now working towards certification and full UKCP registration.
I work with acceptance, acknowledging my own limits of understanding. I am committed to learning from the diversity present in its many forms, including sexual/gender orientation, ethnicity, culture, age, neurodiversity, disability, and religion.
I live and work in Stroud and have 2 children.
