ABOUT ME

I’m Sophie Paine, Biodynamic Massage Therapist and Advanced Trainee Biodynamic Psychotherapist member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and LSBP (London School of Biodynamic Psychotherapy).

I came to this approach through my own journey with Biodynamic Psychotherapy and a longing for more sense of aliveness and vitality. I had a long-standing frustration with the non-integrated approach of conventional healthcare, and a deep respect for the integrated, holistic approach I experienced whilst working at Penny Brohn Cancer Care (Bristol Cancer Help Centre as it was formerly known) as course co-ordinator back in the 1990s. Here I discovered that with the right support and encouragement we are our own best healers and that ‘health’ is never something that leaves us even with the limitations of illness.

What makes so much sense to me with the Gerda Boyesen’s Biodynamic perspective is that this vitality or life-force is able to grow within nurturing relationship – not simply in the contact but also in the space afforded in the relationship.  Through my Psychotherapy training I found that the latest Neuroscience supports this understanding.

My background previous to the training was as a Bodyworker, Holistic Massage Therapist and Reflexologist and for many years I ran practices in Bristol and Stroud.  Over the years I have developed special areas of interest in Pregnancy and Childbirth, Reproductive issues and Neurodiversities including Autism.

Having completed my core 4 year Biodynamic Psychotherapy training at LSBP in 2019 I am now working towards certification and full UKCP registration.

I work with acceptance, with an awareness of my own limits of understanding and always with a commitment to learn from all diversity brings in it’s many forms whether through Sexual/Gender orientation, Ethnicity and Culture, Age, Neurodiversity, Disability and Religion.

I live and work in Stroud and have 2 children.
